We walked a few blocks into town and finally did see another person, the state park ranger. I bought a Bodie pamphlet from the ranger for a dollar, and chatted briefly about the history of the town. We said goodbye to the ranger and kept wandering along the main street. The ranger put on his cross country skis and headed back up the trail that we had just walked down. That left us as the sole residents of Bodie.
