| | Jill and Barrie Ellis with "Captain" hitched to a Furphy.
Mum writes: "First 8 years of our lives were here, at Cropwell, 1459 acres/590HA.
My Dad bred Clydesdales. Our main income was wool from the sheep. The horses were used to plough
the ground and pull a big lorry to take bales of wool to Burraboi (8 miles away) our nearest rail siding,
to go to Melbourne to be sold.
He also had 16 bullocks who were used to make channels for the irrigation to be put through 'Cropwell'. Our house was red brick,
probably built in the mid 1850. We left in 1942 due to the depression, and went to KooWeeRup, our furniture went by rail."
