Chiringashima is a small island off the coast of Ibusuki, connected to the mainland with a tidal tombolo. I have a weird fascination with these landforms, and I was reminded of the sandbar at Bar Harbor in Maine.

This sandbar is actually waterlogged and soft volcanic sand, and it was hard slog to walk, so I only made it half-way to the island before turning around.
